Lofa County to Break Ground for Modern Sports Stadium on April 8 Monrovia, April 3, 2025 – Lofa County is set to take a major step in sports development with the groundbreaking ceremony for a modern sports stadium scheduled for April 8, 2025. The project, aimed at nurturing local talent and improving sports infrastructure, has generated excitement among residents and county leadership. Lofa County Senator Momo Cyrus, speaking ahead of the ceremony, expressed his commitment to elevating sports in the county. He acknowledged that Lofa has long envied the progress made by other counties in sports and is now determined to catch up. “This stadium is a big step toward improving our sports sector, which has already shown promising results,” Senator Cyrus said. “Sports unite people, and Lofa is ready to take that next step.” Lofa’s Wologisi FC, a football club owned and supported by Senator Cyrus, recently won the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Second Division League, earning promotion to the First Division. The senator described this as the beginning of a new era for Lofa sports and emphasized that the county is ready to invest in infrastructure to sustain its success. To fund the stadium’s construction, Lofa County aims to raise $500,000 over the next two years. The stadium’s design is being finalized in Istanbul, Turkey, and once completed, it is expected to serve as a hub for sports and community development. Senator Cyrus has called on Lofaians at home and abroad to join efforts in realizing this historic project. He envisions a transformational future for the county in the coming years. “In the next four to five years, Lofa will undergo a transformation. We are not turning back, and we are committed to our development,” he assured. The upcoming groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of an ambitious journey to position Lofa County as a key player in Liberia’s sports sector. Residents and sports enthusiasts across Liberia are eager to see this vision become a reality.
